Runner up Mark Wetherill was 3 holes behind at the finish , getting there after a rollercoaster front 9 had left him just one behind but a great start on his journey home gave him a share of the lead on 12 actually one hole clear of LMC but neither he , nor joint leaders Southworth or Harvey could match the extraordinary 6 hole winning salvo of the winner and finished third and fourth whilst in-form mid-handicapper Richard Paulson and wily veteran John Wilks completed the top 6 on a day where our beloved course again proved too tricky for the vast majority of the elite 22 strong field with Defending Champion Ian Cheetham initially making a strong start to lead solely after 6 holes but faded to lose 8 of the remanning 12 holes to finish down the field in 16th place .
