Noted ball-strikers Ralston and Snape ultimately cruise to victory with a stunning gross 72 to take the Gyves/Gardener trophies by 3.6 strokes from the Holloway/Owen duo with front 9 leaders JBoardman and JDixon in third place in the challenging conditions !

Paul MacDonald spreadeagled an exclusive 10 man field to win the coveted DPT in fine style with defending champion Daniel Miller second and 2013 champion Matthew Goodall in third .

Glen Rothwell is in pole position to win his 3rd J Ford in 4 years after a superb 73 which gives him a 4 shot lead over surprise second Norman Crowther . Defending Champion Alty GC golfer Stewart Royle and Mark Snape lie 6 shots back with pre-tournament favourite Mark Marshall 8 shots behind .

Norman Crowther shoots a superb net 69 to lead by a stroke from Mr. Captain ( Robert W. Kay) and Gross leader Rothwell with the tightly packed top 10 players separated by 3 shots including Roy Dickens , whose extraordinary round included a net albatross on 5 ! It’s all up for grabs as we go into tomorrow’s final round .

Sunday 16th September 2018 Mark Marshall scores a magnificent 73 in the tough conditions to take Round 2 honours by 5 shots from Glen Rothwell with Mark Snape and Gordon Boardman taking the minor places .

Brian Southworth snatched the Round 2 net honours on countback with a superb back 9 from Gordon Boardman with Howard Johnson and Paul MacDonald taking the minor places on a day that had a trio of high-handicap golfers heartbreakingly falter from challenging positions on the final third with glory beckoning .

Glen Rothwell keeps his nerve to shoot a gross 78 to regain the J Ford Trophy and become Altrincham GC Champion Golfer of the Year for the third time in 4 years as pre-tournament favourite Mark Marshall produces a magnificent gross 73 but falls 3 strokes short . Mark Snape finishes a creditable third after a second consecutive sub-80 round in the more challenging conditions with defending champion Stewart Royle in fourth on countback from fifth-placed Norman Crowther .

Multi-Board Competition winners Brian Southworth and Gary Shaughnessy have won their 6th pairs Board Competition together after outlasting Paul Hackett and David Christian in the Summer KO finals today . Gary was winning his 7th pairs and 8th Board Comp in all whilst it was the 6th pairs and 12th Board Comp in all for Brian ! Congratulations to both gentlemen !
